Two of my books are back out in the world…under different pen names!
One of them is a bestselling clean and wholesome contemporary romance, under my legal name, Stacey Donovan.
One of them is a spicy historical romance, under my usual pen name, Bryn Donovan.
These books were originally published by other publishers, but the rights have returned to me. If you haven’t read them, I’d be honored if you bought one. Let me tell you all about them!
Sunrise Cabin, Stacey Donovan
This novel, originally published by Hallmark, and it was a #1 Publishers Weekly bestseller! It’s about two very different people…and one very special place.
Paige is a free-spirited first grade teacher, and Dylan is a hard-working investment banker. When the cabin Paige is renting is about to go on the market, and they’re both determined to buy it, their new opposites-attract romance turns into a real estate rivalry.
Can Paige convince Dylan that she should own the cabin? Or will Dylan tell Paige about his own connection to the place…even if it means opening up about his past?
Bestselling author RaeAnne Thayne wrote a lovely endorsement of this book! I art-directed the original cover, working with Streetlight Graphics, and this version isn’t too much of a departure. I think it’s so beautiful. Originally, I was pushed to include a couple on the cover, but I always imagined the cover with just the cabin and the colorful sunrise, the way it is now.
I recommend Sunrise Cabin to fans of:
•opposites attract romance
•grumpy sunshine romance
•romance between rivals
•Hallmark movies
•Jodi Thomas, Rachel Hanna, and Lee Tobin McClain
•all the cozy fall vibes
• romance novels with no spice (except in the pumpkin spice lattes)
An Experienced Mistress, Bryn Donovan
My heroine, Genevieve, is a struggling artist in Victorian England. She’s thrilled when Will, a wealthy gentleman who’s returned from the war, asks her for painting lessons.
Then she realizes there’s been a terrible misunderstanding. Will has mistaken her for a worldly mistress—which she is definitely not—and he was asking for lessons in the art of love.
An Experienced Mistress is the first romance novel I ever published, and my writing has changed so much since then! I completely rewrote the story, adding 20,000 words for richness, depth, and humor.
So how freaking adorable is this cover? Louisa Maggio is the designer!
I recommend An Experienced Mistress to fans of:
- romcoms and romps
- lovers from two different worlds
- secret romance
- veteran heroes
- Cinderella stories
- Julia Quinn and Lisa Kleypas
- romance novels with spice!
For now, the ebook versions are only on Amazon, but that’s only going to be true throughout the summer. I’m creating paperback versions that can also be ordered by independent bookstores! (To be honest, I just need a little time to figure out the cover formatting.)
I’m thrilled that Sunrise Cabin has been linked up to the old version, so the 400+ reviews are attached. I only had eight reviews for the original An Experienced Mistress…and those are not linking up with the old version. So if you read it and enjoy it, I hope you’ll heave a review!
Drop me a note in the comments!
What do you think of the book covers? If you’re a writer, have you ever completely rewritten a book years later? Let me know below…or just say congratulations!

Sunrise Cabin comes up on Amazon as being published by hallmark. How do you separate the original from your release? BTW the covers look great!
Hi Tanya! Yeah, Amazon glued the Hallmark edition and my edition together, although the Hallmark copies available are mostly used. I am not complaining! The ebook is only available from me. The book has 400+ reviews, most of them great, and I’m happy to have them attached to the new editions! 🙂 I wish the same thing had happened with the other book, honestly. Almost nobody read the original—it was published with a very small press—but I still wouldn’t mind having those 8 reviews attached, haha! Thanks for the kind words!
FYI: The book with the new cover (without the couple) is the new publication.
Congrats! Regaining rights must be in the stars now — Taylor Swift and yourself regaining your words! In another place and time, I believe I heard you do a reading from “An Experienced Mistress.”
Nancy! Oh yes, I remember that reading! That’s amazing. Hey, I’m no Taylor Swift, but it’s nice to have the rights back on these! 🙂
Very cool and happy release day!
Thank you so much, Zee! 🙂
Congratulations! So happy for you and look forward to reading both of these!
Thank you, Mary! I appreciate that so much!
I LOVED Sunrise Cabin and am so excited to read An Experienced Mistress! Will have to add both to my library. Keep ‘em coming to grow my “D” shelf! Love these covers, too!
Aww Marci, thank you! I really appreciate that!
Hi Bryn. How exciting! Congratulations on the new release. I loved Sunrise cabin and look forward to reading An Experienced Mistress. Best of luck with this newest version.
Hi Cheryl! Oh, thank you so much. I appreciate it! (Fair warning, An Experienced Mistress is spicy…but you probably guessed that from the title!)
Sunrise Cabin is a favorite of mine. I’ll have to get the new copy. That cover is gorgeous.
Aww, you are too kind! Thank you, Erin! I hope your summer is off to a good start!
Congratulations, Bryn! I love both of these covers, especially Sunrise Cabin 😍
Thank you so much! I appreciate that!
Congrats!!!
Thank you, Ro! 🙂
Congratulations Bryn!! I LOVE that ‘Sunrise Cabin’ cover — it makes me want to move there. Amazon has removed the ‘Hallmark’ sticker and lists the publisher as Griffin House.
Thank you, Tom!! I’ve always dreamed of living in a log cabin, so yeah, I know what you’re saying! The seal was part of the old design, and “Griffin House” is the LLC I use for everything—writing and editing!
Congratulations.
Thank you, V.M.! I appreciate it!
Love the covers! They both each fit their subgenre and audience. Congratulations on re-releasing them.
Thank you so much, Denise! You understand about market segments! 🙂
Wow, the cover look amazing!!! I’m deciding whether, as someone called Genevieve, I can reasonably read a spicy story featuring my own name 🤣😅
Aww, thank you! And that is so funny about the name! Well, I think Genevieve is the one of the most beautiful names I’ve ever heard, so that’s why I used it!
Sunrise Cabin was the first book I’d ever read of yours – and I loved it! Downloaded the Experienced Mistress today and can hardly wait to get started. Thank you for keeping us up to date on your books, Bryn. As one of my favorite writers, I am always looking forward to your next book (and blog post!).
Ohh, that’s wonderful. You made my day! I think I’m going to frame this comment. 🙂 Thank you so much!
Hi, Bryn. I read Sunset Cabin and loved it. The new cover is more attractive than the original, in my opinion. Both covers are lovely.
I have not totally rewritten a novel, but I’ve revised one a good bit. It was better for the effort. I’m considering rewriting one that was totally written with a word processor. The only way I can see to accomplish that is to copy it word for word into Microsoft Word, which seems like a drudgery. It’s a good story though.
Keep up the good work. I love your blog.
Congratulations!
CHEERS!!! I can’t wait to read how Genevieve has changed! 💜
