Hey friends! I’m getting back into posting monthly book reviews! And I’m also getting back on Goodreads, which I had abandoned for a while… so if you want to friend me over there, feel free!

TOUCH, Claire North.

Claire North | Bryn Donovan Recommended Reads

The first-person narrator of this deeply creepy book is one of many ghosts who can take over a person’s body, and then switch into another body at will by touching the person. The people are left with no memories of the time they were inhabited, whether it was a few minutes or a few decades. North is a terrific prose writer, and the book gave me a bit of wanderlust, because she describes many cities around the world in memorable detail. There were a few too many switches in this book and I would’ve liked the plot to be bit tighter, but I liked how my opinion of the narrator changed drastically over the course of the story.

Mr. Donovan says that while he liked Touch, another novel by North, The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August, was terrific.

50 Books That Might Make Me Smarter | Bryn Donovan Recommended Reads | best science books

Here’s another one from my 50 Books That Might Make Me Smarter list!

The author explores questions like: Could we ever make real light sabers? A Death Star? What about an invisibility cloak like Harry Potter? (Maybe someday, but an invisibility box is within closer reach.) He also shares many examples of science fiction predicting future inventions, as well as instances of noted scientists claiming that such inventions were scientific impossibilities. This is an entertaining book that left me feeling hopeful about what advances I might see in my lifetime.

BY HER TOUCH, Adriana Anders.

Adriana Anders | Best Romance 2017 Bryn Donovan

This is my first try at a video book review for the blog! It’s a steamy romance and I do talk about the handling of the sex scenes, so don’t watch if you don’t want to hear about that. I understand!

At 1:37 I say that tattoos were “not given to him without his consent…” What I mean was, “given to him without his consent,” haha. Pippin and then Moxie decided to join me for this one, and Clio almost makes an appearance at 2:54.

If you want to suggest a book you’ve read lately, let us know in the comments! Thanks for reading, and have a great week!
