Zodiac Traits - Write a CAPRICORN Character! #writing #astrology #personality types #character traits

Hi friends! Welcome back to my series about using archetypes from astrology as inspiration for character development. A few people have asked me to please finish this zodiac series, and I will before the end of 2015.

It bothers me that Capricorn, the goat, looks an awful lot like Aries, the Ram. I feel like one of them should be a unicorn instead… except neither are the unicorn type. (Unicorns are Aquarians, don’t you think?)

Anyway, let’s look at the classic Capricorn personality type, which is one of my very favorites!

Here are some good qualities of a Capricorn:

disciplined

serious

success-oriented

professional

good provider

cool under fire

And here are some not-so-good qualities:

shy

fatalistic

miserly

too conservative

all work and no play

can’t take a joke

As a co-worker…

No matter the field, she’s a top performer and brings a sense of professionalism to her work that earns the respect of others. People may be a little intimidated by her, and she doesn’t always join in when everyone else is joking around.

As a lover…

He’s not going to jump right into a relationship. He’s goal-oriented, after all, and he wants to make sure that a relationship is going to lead to something good. Once he commits, he’s completely devoted, and he’ll make sure you have a stable life. You might find his seriousness sexy, but you might also persuade him to lighten up a bit.

As a parent…

She’s good at setting boundaries and saying “no,” and she takes her role as a provider seriously – just like she takes everything else. She may not take the time to play with her kids as much, and she’s not the type to be goofy with them.

As a villain…

Two words: Ebeneezer Scrooge.

In pop culture…

I’ve seen Tiana from The Princess and the Frog suggested as a Capricorn, but as always, my Disney knowledge is lacking.
